YOURmeds a Simple Medication Device Making a Big Difference

In Bridgend, a small group of patients have been trying out YOURmeds – a digital device that helps people take the right medication at the right time, while keeping pharmacy and care teams informed when extra support is needed.

The project is helping people stay independent, cut down on missed doses, and reduce unnecessary hospital visits. It’s also saving time and money for both the NHS and social care.

Nicola’s Story

Nicola Davies, a former nurse, lives with multiple health conditions and was finding it harder to keep track of her medication. Missed doses and mistimed tablets were starting to affect her health and confidence.

With YOURmeds, Nicola now gets clear reminders, can instantly check if she’s taken her medication, and feels back in control. Her family no longer need to worry about whether she’s remembered her tablets, and Nicola says she has regained her independence.

Alarms go off when I need to take things, and now if I’m confused, I can just check my messages. I’ve got more control and it’s given me my confidence back.

Why This Matters

This project has shown that with the right support, more people can manage their medication successfully, stay well for longer, and reduce their reliance on hospital and care services. YOURmeds also supports the wider NHS aim of moving from analogue to digital, hospital-based care to community-based support, and from treating illness to preventing it.

I never realised there was anything like this out there. There are lots of people like me who are more than capable of taking their medication – it’s just a confidence thing.
